I'm the first to admit not all shoots excite me. Some I can hardly sleep the night before while others they could cancel and I'd keep sipping my coffee without a care.
Newborn shoots I always look forward to. You're thinking "just another woman with constantly tingling ovaries. She just wants to hold a baby."
I look forward to newborn shoots to hear the parents. Hug them. Bring them coffee. Tell them to do absolutely nothing but relax while I take their baby for a bit. Make sure they know having a newborn is a royal B*%$# most of the time and that they aren't alone.
I make a point to tell them it won't last forever and someday you will sleep for more than 30 minutes at a time, your nipples wont leak, the vag wont ache and you'll able to order a cheeseburger without crying again.
I also tell them to cherish every second. Cliche? Absolutely. But it's true. As hard as it is to have a newborn, our babies are gifts from God and they stay tiny for such a short time.
I adored this newborn shoot. Love the parents, baby Elizabeth James couldn't be more beautiful. Really most newborns let's be honest are not in their prime as far as looks go.
So this shoot might have made my ovaries tingle a little.
